Past is but the Present

These Lights Are Blinding

I’m stranded in the desert
I hear them laugh all around
I wish they could find me
But I’m nowhere to be found

The neon signs taunt me
The light stains the air
This tempo keeps changing
But I won’t fall to despair

Can’t you see when you’re alone in the desert
The unspoken bliss of temptation before you
The fear in your mind may lead you into the darkness
But don’t let it come, my light will be there

My clothes are all tattered
My visage is worn
I’m rusted and weathered
But I shall not be forlorn
The buildings around me
Have burned to the ground
The message they’ve sent me
Can be heard all around

Can’t you see when you’re alone in the desert
The unspoken bliss of temptation before you
The fear in your mind may lead you into the darkness
But don’t let it come, my light will be there

This temporal vision
Will stress me no more
But while it escapes me
I know I’ve seen it before
My mind is quite restless
My heart races fast
This vision won’t vanish
Was this a look at the past?
